A short clip from the Overtime Theater’s production of “Rossum’s Universal Robots” Opening June 18 at the Overtime Theater, RUR: Rossum’s Universal Robots is a new adaptation of Czech writer Karel Capek’s prophetic 1921 play that gave birth to modern sci-fi and introduced the word “robot” to the world’s lexicon. At its island factory, Rossum’s Universal Robots makes the cheapest, strongest labor force you can find; the best bio-mechanical robots for your every need. They’re so good, they even look human! But when a beautiful young revolutionary arrives with notions of robot liberation, she is greeted by RUR’s managers who assure her that robots are soulless and indifferent to humanity’s cause. However, her idealistic views plant the seeds of a revolution that proves just how dangerously human robots can be. Even though this play was first performed in 1921, it still resonates with contemporary audiences, and science-fiction writers continue to draw inspiration from it. For example, Joss Whedon’s recent TV show “Dollhouse” paid homage to Capek’s play by naming the fictional corporate headquarters after Rossum. Tron Legacy : Tron: Legacy is an upcoming 2010 science fiction film. It is a sequel to the 1982 Academy Award-nominated film Tron. Joseph Kosinski makes his feature film directorial debut with Tron: Legacy, while the previous film director, Steven Lisberger, returns as a producer. Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin Flynn, and Bruce Boxleitner his roles as Alan Bradley and Tron, while Garrett Hedlund portrays Flynn’s now-adult son, Sam. The other cast members include Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, Michael Sheen and John Hurt. At over twenty-eight years, this film marks the longest gap between a live-action film and its theatrical sequel in Hollywood history. According to the teaser trailer shown at the 2008 and 2009 San Diego Comic-Con, the film will be presented in Digital 3-D and IMAX 3D. On September 3, 2009, Walt Disney Pictures announced that Tron: Legacy will appear in theaters on December 15, 2010; however, in the more recent trailer preceding Alice in Wonderland the release date was stated as being December 17, 2010.
Marc Singer, from the original ¨BEASTMASTER¨ movies and ¨V¨ stars in this terrible remake to Roger Corman´s ¨FORBIDDENT WORLD¨ aka ¨MUTANT¨, one of Corman´s own productions he started remaking from the late 80´s, all the way to the late 90´s, this one was thrash, it used a lot of stock-footage(as usual) from ¨BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS¨, ¨SPACE RAIDERS¨, ¨GALAXY OF TERROR¨ and ¨FORBIDDEN WORLD¨, i still want it though, for cheesy-sci-fi horror movies sake xD.
Fred Olen Ray´s low budget ¨ALIENS¨ / ¨PREDATOR¨ ripoff in the early 90´s, using stock footage from an early 80´s zombie/sci-fi horror movie ¨¨THE AFTERMATH¨, i haven´t seen it yet, people say it´s awful, but it don´t matter, i still wanna see it, it´s very hard to find, but if anyone has it, please share it!! xD
